Busan Metropolitan City Infectious Disease Newsletter September 2024 For Healthy Holidays, Things We Must Know about Febrile Infectious Diseases in Autumn! If you have symptoms such as high fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, or diarrhea within two weeks after having farm work or outdoor activities, please suspect that you contracted a tick or rodent-borne infectious disease. ★ If a symptom occurs, please visit a medical facility for treatment ★ - Visit a family member’s grave - Harvest - Outdoor activity (climbing, camping, picnic, etc.) Tick infectious disease Tsutsugamushi disease Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) ○ Wear long clothes and use tick repellent when going out ○ Immediately wash the clothes worn upon coming home, and check out if you have been bitten by a tick. Rodents infectious disease Leptospirosis ○ Do not get in contact with rat’s excretion ○ Take shower and wash the clothes worn when you had an outdoor activity ○ Be vaccinated if you are at a high risk of infection (three times) Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome ○ Wear a protective gear, boots and rubber gloves when you work at the flooded area ○ Wash your skin exposed to polluted water with clean water Number of occurrence of respiratory infections (COVID-19, whooping cough, mycoplasma, etc.) is increasing.
